Production Process
Silicon manganese alloy is produced by reducing manganese oxide and silicon dioxide in manganese ore with coke in a carbide furnace. The smelting process uses carbonaceous reducing agents, manganese ore, manganese-rich slag, sintered manganese ore, roasted manganese ore, and silica as raw materials, and lime, dolomite, fluorite, etc., as fluxes, in a continuous process in an electric furnace.
Currently, mainstream silicon manganese production enterprises are developing electric furnaces towards larger scale and full enclosure. To ensure product quality, the iron-manganese ratio and manganese-phosphorus ratio in the manganese ore must meet specific requirements; the higher the manganese content, the better the various indicators.
The main processes for producing ferrosilicon manganese include:
1. Ore beneficiation: Removing impurities after mining.
2. Crushing: Controlling particle size using an impact crusher.
3. Hot blast furnace preheating: Evaporating moisture and volatiles.
4. Electric furnace smelting: Chemical reaction between ferrosilicon manganese and the electrodes.
